- Decoration, The Reception
With so many Brides taking full responsibility for the design and planning of their wedding, I am often asked for ideas for DIY Wedding table decorations.
The most simple and effective method is to hire glass vases and make simple hand tied posies for each one. The posies are then yours to give away as little Thank you gifts to friends or family who have supported you.
Other ideas which we often use which look particularly good without too much hassle required are:
- Candles in glass holders, placed in groups on mirror bases
- Church candles tied with co-ordinating ribbons
- Goldfish bowl with lilies and bear grass twirled around the inside
- Small fresh floral posy – with personalised sail
- Use favour boxes, pilled to make a centrepiece
- Simple potted plants – i.e. hydrangea, wrapped in fabric and or cellophane, with or without a co-ordinating ribbon bow
- Simple glass vases filled with a small hand tied summer posy
- Small white ornamental birdcage, with single fresh Singapore orchids, cascading down from the top, finished with a ribbon bow
- Pretty glass dishes, filled with sweets
- Personalised scrolls, tied in co-ordinating ribbon – (organza ribbon always looks lovely)
- Name your tables rather than having table numbers. We have made table plans with the tables being named after the couple’s pets, memorable places they’ve visited, sweeties, motor racing and even a football theme!
- Table confetti – metallic, silk or fresh rose petals, carefully scattered on the tables and in a heart shape at the entrance to greet the Bride and Groom
The scope is endless – it’s often something that is relevant to you and your Fiancé that makes the best impact.
